Going Green with Energy Max

November 21st, 2009

Tru-Build Homes has been trying to figure out new ways to save people money and become more energy conscious. With the economy the way that it is, customers have become increasingly worried about skyrocketing heating, cooling, gas and electric bills. We’ve therefore been working on creating air tight homes, and as a result have added a new company to our family of businesses. Energy Max insulation was created with the sole purpose of trying to help homeowners realize new energy efficient homes while at the same time, in keeping with the Tru-Build philosophy, keep costs down. Usually spray foam insulation can run people thousands upon thousands just for small sections of existing homes! Recouping that money takes an extraordinarily long time. We want to give people the warmth and security of a super insulated home and yet charge much less than what an insulation contractor charges. With this foam division in play, Tru-Build customers would never have to worry about a breath of air getting into their homes, not to mention, the R value is the best you can get, all for much less than what you’d expect! Stay tuned for the Energy Max Insulation website.

Cost Saving Tip #1

April 2nd, 2008

Often during the course of any build, a contractor will send the homeowner to a standard supplier in order to shop for things like faucets and lighting, tile and hardwoods. This is a fine practice, and often you can find really good deals at the builder’s supplier of choice. However, wouldn’t it be better if you had options. That’s the philosophy we adopted in forming our company. We want to get you the most house for the least amount of money. In line with this idea, we allow you to shop for faucets and lights and even front doors wherever you like. We’ll even help. We spend hours scouring the internet, local suppliers and retail stores for closeouts, wholesale deals, and low cost items for your home. Shopping for fixtures at places other than building supply outfits can actually translate to quite a savings. Even if you only save $50 on a kitchen sink or $100 on a lampost, you will soon realize how quickly these small savings can add up. Sites like Ebay and Craigslist, for instance, can be invaluable resources when building a home. We encourage our homeowners to check out sites such as these for items that may not seem to be within the budget upon first look. You’d be surprised what you can do if you’re allowed to shop anywhere.

Re-Build Rochester – Introducing Tru-Build Homes

April 2nd, 2008

Tru-Build Homes Originally from Livingston county, I’ve had the opportunity to live in a few different places, Philadelphia, Savannah, and London. But I always find myself coming back here, back home. This time my family and I decided to stay and build in the area. The cost of living is lower here than in some of the other places I’ve lived; the traffic is definitely much easier to navigate; everything is friendlier and more familiar–if not for those pesky NY state taxes…I’ve had the chance since coming back to help create and run a home building company that is genuinely interested in rebuilding the region one affordable home at a time. We saw a glut in this market of way over-priced spec homes or manufactured homes barreling down 390 loaded on the backs of tractor trailers. The average person was stuck somewhere between the two. And more often than not, the average person gave up discouraged on the dream of building a new home. That’s why we started Tru-Build Homes.
Tru-Build Homes is trying to redefine the entire process. We’ve mastered the technique of maximizing every last square foot, managing materials down to the last cent and getting the most efficiency from our crews. Because of this we can do custom builds starting at $50-60/ square foot. And we can offer some really cool features as standard: Exposed beams hand sawn out of the trees on your lot, 13′ cathedral ceilings upstairs, more efficient insulation techniques, more flexible shopping options.
Why here… why not try this in a more lucrative housing market? We’ve often been asked this question. Some feel that by confining ourselves to western NY we’re severaly limiting our profits and potential. Well, we think that this is the perfect area, and we’re invested in seeing the Greater Rochester region thrive. The Tru-Build program is designed specifically for the area. We take into consideration the specific needs and wants of western New Yorkers and go from there. For instance, did you know that because of the way we build our homes and the options we offer, there is a potential to cut property tax assessment in half. Also, we’ve designed plans specifically for lake cottages as we are surrounded by so many bodies of water. We’re currently working on a line of hunting cabins geared toward the Southerntier. We don’t just look at the bottom line; we sincerely look at what we can do to help re-build this region.

Help us get the western NY home building market moving.
